Bethany's Cave

In Bethany's most isolated and personal moments, I latched on to her feeling of solitude—with the exception of [the real] Officer Russell, she pushes away anyone who tries to help her in her search, even if she is in great duress. I created a synthesized sound to evoke the sound of individual water droplets in a large cave. I associate such a sonic scene with a profound sense of isolation and enclosure. When repeated cyclically (as with the last 3 chimes) this sound also evokes the chiming of a clock, another powerful force on Bethany's subconscious. Organic sounds of distant cerebral activity underscore the droplets, as though heard through the walls of the "cave".
